"LIBBY"
CH Alkarah's Lady Liberty OFA HIP (GOOD) & ELBOW CERIFIED
Libby's sire, BIS Am/Can Sel Ch Kismet's Sight for Sore Eyes TC HIC ROM OFA aka Dallas was campaigned by Jim Moses and in 2002 was the #1 German Shepherd Dog, the #1 Herding Dog, and the #1 dog of all breeds in the United States. "Dallas" is now retired from showing after amassing 103 Best in Show awards.
Being out of Dallas , Libby has an absolutely gorgeous head which she is passing to her progeny. She is VERY clean coming and going. Libby is producing full sets of teeth, and perfect bites. She has tiny, compact feet, a rock hard back & well sprung ribs. She is not an extreme mover but is very balanced with fully extended hocks. She has perfect GSD temperament and produces the same in her progeny. Libby has personality to spare as do her pups. Being a sable she could also improve pigment.

HOW TO BUY A LIBERTY PUPPY STEP ONE Fully complete and return our “Questionnaire”. This will help us in placing the correct puppy into your home. We do not breed often and our pups are usually spoken for before they are born. Due to the quality of our dogs most people are willing to wait for their new family member. You will receive notice of your approval at which time you will also receive our sale contract. If you have questions about the Sales Contract please let us know. Only show and top show pups will be sold with an open registration. Pet pups will be sold with a limited registration and must be spayed or neutered. STEP TWO You will be notified once the puppies have been born. No puppy will leave before he/she is 8 weeks of age. Buyers picking up their puppy must do so by appointment only. We ask that you use “Liberty” in the registration of your puppy. However, you may call the puppy what you wish. Balance is due in full before pups are shipped or released to his/her new home unless other written agreements have been made.
Return the initialed & signed Sales Contract with your deposit. A deposit of $200.00 is required to be placed on our waiting list, first come first served based on date of receipt. However, show and top show homes will have precedence. We will send a receipt for your deposit. This deposit will be applied toward purchase price. If for any given reason this breeding does not occur or the mother does not conceive, the deposit will be returned to the buyer at buyers written request. If a written request is not received, the deposit will be applied toward the next available litter of equal quality and price.

WHAT COMES WITH YOUR LIBERTY PUPPY
Our puppies are raised not in a garage, not in a basement, not in a kennel, not in a barn and not in our back yard but ARE raised in our home.
WHAT IS THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN PET, SHOW & TOP SHOW PUPPIES (QUALITY & PRICES)
PET/COMPANION: Purebred and AKC registrable. Most in this category are beautiful structurally with no sacrifice to health but are average in quality. All our dogs regardless of sex and structure are intelligent, have excellent temperament and trainability. We require all pet/companions be spayed or neutered. We require this because we feel no average dog should be bred and to prevent health issues such as Pyometra & Prostate Cancer. Only the above average dog can improve upon the breed. THREE EXAMPLES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, WHY A PUP MIGHT BE A PET/COMPANION: (1) a male who does not have two descending testicles and therefore would not be guaranteed to descend. (2) A dog that had an ear injury while playing with his/her litter mates, which may or may not cause it to stand. (3) A dog that has a long coat. The price range for a pup of this description ranges from $500 to $1500 & up for youngsters under six months, depending upon age, quality and bloodlines.
SHOWABLE DOG: Purebred and AKC registrable. The showable dog goes beyond the definition of pet/companion and is also free of disqualifying faults. With proper conditioning, training and professional handling should do well in the conformation ring. This animal could be used for breeding. However, this dog is in no way guaranteed to win in the show ring. With competition being extremely keen, it is impossible to guarantee consistent winning of any dog. Competition & judge’s opinions vary from show to show. Because of this we cannot guarantee this dog will finish it’s championship. Structurally this dog embodies the basic type of the GSD and is better than average in quality and appearance. The price range for a pup of this description ranges from $1500 to $2000 & up for youngsters under six months, depending upon age, quality and bloodlines.
TOP SHOW PROSPECT: Purebred and AKC registrable. A top quality show dog goes beyond the definition of showable and is free of disqualifying and serious faults. This is a very rare animal that with proper conditioning, training and professional handling is able to win in the conformation ring. This animal is more desirable for breeding than the showable dog. With competition being extremely keen, it is impossible to guarantee consistent winning of any dog. Competition & judge’s opinions vary from show to show. Because of this we cannot guarantee this dog will finish it’s championship. The price range for a pup of this description ranges from $2000 to $3000 & up for youngsters under six months, depending upon age, quality and bloodlines. Older dogs are more expensive. Pointed and major pointed dogs are even more expensive. It is of utmost importance to seek expert help with Top Show Prospects. We are available to help you in any way we can.

WHY PAY MORE FOR A PET PUPPY
"The $1000.00 Puppy vs. The $300.00 to $500.00 Puppy"
The comparison you are about to read is hypothetical, but very typical of what we see.
___________________
$1000.00 - Both the sire and dam of this puppy came from top quality breeding stock which was developed over years and years of selective and knowledgeable breeding. Both meet the requirement of the written AKC (American Kennel Club) standard for the breed in conformation as well as temperament. Each has a pedigree, which has been studied and thoroughly researched. These dogs have been selected to breed to each other because they can both contribute to the excellence of the breed as well as complement on another with the intentions of improving the breed.
$300.00 to $500.00 - The dam of this litter was purchased from a local pet store and originally came from a Missouri puppy mill. Or was purchased from a backyard breeder who does not do health or temperament testing to ensure a both mentally and physically healthy adult. She was sick off and on the first year of her life due to too many different types of intestinal parasites and malnutrition. The sire, an over-sized male, lives down the street and was purchased from an ad in the newspaper. Neither owner has ever heard of the AKC (American Kennel Club) written standard or the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). Neither owner has seen a written pedigree. The female is skittish and snappy even when her puppies are not on the property. Her owners hope that having a litter will calm her down.
____________________
$1000.00 - Before this breeding ever took place, both male and female had tests including hip X-Rays, elbow X-Rays, eye tests and heart tests to determine that there were no physical or genetic problems that might be passed on to offspring. The breeder is well aware of the genetic problems to which the breed is predisposed and uses no animal for breeding unless it is certified clear of defects by a qualified Veterinarian. The health of her pups is guaranteed.
$300.00 to $500.00 - The breeder is totally unaware of the genetic problems within the breed. Trips to the Veterinarian, except for dire emergencies or yearly shots, are considered too expensive. The breeders' hope is to make money off the sale of the puppies. If he keeps expenses down, he can buy that new couch he's been wanting. Puppies are sold with no guarantee.
____________________
$1000.00 - The breeder is a professional and he has a good reputation to maintain. His goal is to produce beautiful and sound specimens, which anyone would be proud to own. Profit, if any, goes toward future breedings, always aimed toward the betterment of the breed, or for show entries, handler's fees, new equipment and important veterinary tests. Both the mother and pups are fed the highest quality diet. Many trips to the vet assure him that mother and pups are thriving under the very best care. The pups are raised in a busy part of the house where they are socialized, groomed and exposed to different kinds of stimuli. They are touched and talked to, cuddled and even sung to. They are never sold before they are seven weeks old. Every buyer is interviewed at length and pups are placed only in homes where they will receive the finest treatment. The breeder spends time with each new owner, educating and answering questions. Follow-up calls are made to make sure the pups are adjusting well. Each new owner receives a bill of sale and health guarantees, vaccination record, minimum four-generation pedigree, guarantee of registration with the AKC (American Kennel Club) or CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) and thorough puppy care and nutrition information. If the puppy is not considered to be of such quality as it will better the breed the puppy is sold with a limited registration or non-breeding agreements. The new owners are encouraged to continue a relationship with the breeder, and to call and ask questions at any time during the dog's life. The pup will stay with the breeder until deserving home has been found. If for some reason this home does not work out (Example: Maybe the owner has to move and can’t take the pup with him.), the breeder demands the puppy be returned to him so he can find the puppy a “forever” home.
$300.00 to $500.00 - These puppies are born in a box, in the garage or even worse in the backyard doghouse or barn and receive little care other than what the mother gives. To cut costs they are weaned on generic dog food and allowed to nurse on the mother as long as possible to keep food bills down. The bitch's health declines rapidly due to poor nutrition and some pups are weak and runty. They are sold as quickly as possible because advertising and vaccines are expensive. They are sold without shots, parasite checks, vet examinations, guarantees or information of any kind. They are sold to anyone who has the cash. If the new owner is lucky he may receive an AKC (American Kennel Club) or CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) registration application. Although the puppy is of very poor quality, it is sold with full breeding rights, which will contribute to unwanted pups in shelters. The new owner usually disappears with the pup, never to be seen again. If the market is not good, the breeder takes the leftover pups to the local pet shop. And if the pet shop won’t take them, if the pups are luck, they will be taken to the shelter and not destroyed by the hands of the breeder so the food bill is lowered.
The comparison you have just read is hypothetical, but very typical of what we see. Although not every breeder who charges higher prices is reputable and ethical, pet buyers should keep looking until they find one that is. And not every puppy sold for $300 to $500 is from an unethical breeder or of poor quailty either. Sometimes even reputable breeders have a special situation where they will sell a puppy for a lower price. We know first hand the "Price" you pay for not doing your research and by purchasing a lower priced pup. Our very first GSD was only $500.00. But the first two years of it's life it was sick and had hip dysplasia by 7 months of age. So that total came to well over $2,500.00 in two years. Not to mention the heartache it caused us. The point I am trying to make is "Be careful out there." When I am asked why my prices are so much higher than those in some newspaper ads, I mail a copy of this article. Those buyers who respect the quality and excellence are wonderful customers and become "partners" in this hobby that I love so much. Many have become close friends. We have even dog sat while pet buyers have gone on vacation. Those that are seeking pets deserve nothing less than a nice quality, healthy and trusting animal. As well as a breeder they can count on."
